Intermediate Class Details
Our classes start at 7:30pm with the first of four 45 minute sessions. This is is attended by both new comers and experienced dancers to help out. Eddi teaches 3 or 4 beginners moves, from the stage with David and the class is instructed with each move broken down individually and explained in 'slow time'.
Once these moves have been grasped they are linked together to allow dancers to practice a small routine continually. This allows existing dancers to introduce, during the freestyle sessions, moves from previous weeks, thus building up their own routine in a relatively short space of time.
In the second 45 minute session we turn up the music, change to mood lighting and practice the moves you have been taught or simply dance moves from your repertoire. This is a chance to mix with the other dancers and learn from them. It is also an opportunity to see what levels SalsaJive can be taken to. Eddi, David and the SalsaJive Support dancers will be on hand for advice and help.
The third 45 minute session Eddi teaches the intermediate dancers, this consists of three new moves which are also linked together. The idea is that this routine can be used by the intermediate or advanced dancers as an addition to their personal routine. A testimony to the choice moves and standard of Eddi's teaching is that many dancers can be observed in freestyle dancing using routines that they have learned in SalsaJive's classes. Eddi includes stylish and complex 'drops and lunges' into this class whereas other dance classes will only teach these in private lessons at an additional charge.
The fourth and final 45 minute session of the evening is for freestyle again and gives everyone the chance to show off the moves introduced in the class.
